Scaling is the process that adjusts VCE study scores into ATAR subject scores. The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) adjusts all VCE study scores to equalise results between studies with stronger cohorts, and those with weaker ones. Contrary to common perception, scaling is not based on the difficulty of the subject, as each study score is in fact a ranking. The score adjustment ensures that in those subjects where it is easier to overtake the cohort, the score is adjusted downwards, while in those subjects where it is difficult to rank highly, it is moved upwards.

There are some disputes about whether parallelograms with two pairs of parallel sides should be considered as trapezoids. Some people define a trapezoid as a quadrilateral with just one couple of parallel sides (the exclusive determination), which excludes parallelograms. Others, however, define a trapezoid as a quadrilateral with at least one pair of sides that are parallel (the inclusive determination), making quadrilaterals a special kind of trapezoid. The latter determination is consistent with its applications in higher mathematics. The former definition would make concepts like trapezoidal approximation to a definite integral ill-defined.

Sure, there are several good tips. However, they can hardly be regarded as secrets. To start with, we sincerely hope that our students as well as faculty fully realize their course websites are directly addressable. Respectively, bookmarks to these websites should work in any web browser. Furthermore, the social networking site "My Workspace" (already available on the left side of the system "My Courses") has appeared to be extremely useful for students due to announcement pages and unified calendar. Besides this, every CourseWorks user receives a small space for his personal use. By the way, the space is UNI-authenticated.

Mejicano: We will be using well-known benchmarks to assess traditional knowledge acquisition (., examination scores at the local and national level). In addition, we’ll be using multimodal assessment methods to determine milestone and competency achievement, including patient experience of care surveys, global impressions by clinicians, standardized patient examinations, objective structured clinical examinations, procedural logs, quality improvement data, reflection narratives, standardized shelf examinations, and peer assessment tools. We also will develop new tools to assess proficiency in working in teams, applying quality improvement science, and clinical informatics. We also want to assess whether our graduates are “residency ready” by using surveys of our former students, as well as the residency program directors that have accepted them into their training programs. We hope to use students in the other AMA consortium schools as “controls” for some of the innovations we’ll put into place—and we’ll serve as the other schools’ controls for their interventions.
